...Instead of asking NASA to take us to the moon or Mars (what the hell?), I'd ask NASA to become the premiere science agency for the entire country and focus on more than just space. Their first assignment: turn loose all of the scientific know-how in the country to come up with energy alternatives that are effective, low-cost and gentle on the enviornment.
